FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

+ Where do you teach your seminars and classes?

We mainly teach out of our facility in Norfolk, Virginia. To maintain safe numbers for COVID, we provide the address to our facility to students after they have signed up for classes.

+ What kinds of classes do you teach exactly?

We focus on 3 main categories: edged-weapons, empty-hand self defense, and firearms. Out of these three, we offer a multitude of different classes. We recommend visiting our Classes page for more information on what we currently teach.

+ Do you operate your own weapons range?

As of right now, we do not. While this may change in the future, we currently teach at many already established ranges and shooting clubs.

+ What style of martial arts do you teach?

While derived from multiple styles of traditional and modern martial arts, all of our fighting systems are proprietary to ADC. Our combatives program uses elements from Brazilian Jujutsu, Kick Boxing, and Wrestling while our knife system borrows techniques from Kali, Silat, and HEMA. But the biggest difference between us and the martial arts world is how we execute our training. We believe any fighting system worth its salt should be violent, pressure-tested, and learned intuitively. Our's are.

+ Can I book you to teach a course on my property?

Yes. You can pick any of our already established courses and our instructors and staff can travel to you. We find this to be a good option for private shooting groups, family training, and coorperate team-building events.

+ Can I create a custom training program for me/my group?

Yes. We can design specialized training courses to perfect one skill or create something custom that works with your time frame and availability. We can also travel to you. I encourage you to visit our Custom Training page for more information.

+ Do you do private coaching?

Yes. You can reach out to us on our Custom Training page or email us at team@applieddefenseconcepts.com to inquire about one-on-one coaching sessions.

+ What kind of experience do your instructors have?

Most of our instructors have or currently work in a professional capacity to include law enforcement, fugitive recovery, private security, and military. All have backgrounds in various martial arts systems and as well as firearms training. As a baseline, all firearms instructors are NRA accredited and are required to attend classes year-round to keep their skillset sharp and relevant. Almost all of our instructors have had experience training US Special Operations personnel. We recommend visiting our Instructors page to learn more.

+ What is the youngest you will teach?

As a general rule, we can teach children as young as 14. Most of our course material can be quite intense and is not designed for children. But we understand that many want to prepare their entire family as a team. We choose review this on a case-to-case basis.

+ I have a disability. Can I still train with ADC?

We believe everyone should know how to defend themselves and can accomodate for students with disabilities and injuries. Please email us at Team@applieddefenseconcepts.com to speak to one of our staff about your needs.

+ I can't attend a class and need a refund! How do I do this?

Please read our Refund Policy page HERE

No. While we do have specialized classes for profesionals that are closed to the public, we offer most of our courses to responsiible citizens as well. We also offer training to private sector workers such as security officers, bail enforcement agents, and private investigators. We believe that for a populace to be "well armed", they must be well trained.

+ What is "Force-On-Force"?

Force-on-force training involves you interacting and fighting with role-players as opposed to shooting at targets at a range. It involves the use of firearm simulators that fire real projectiles, allowing you to shoot and be shot at.
