The Sub Rosa is a discreet, non-metallic fixed blade designed for environments where subtlety matters.

Created by Kevin Tomas, head of the Rive Knife Combat System, it was engineered as an easy-to-use, point-driven defensive tool built around gross motor skills. It serves as a fast-deploying, low-detection tool that can get its user out of sticky situations in areas that do not permit the carry of life-saving tools.

Design Philosophy

The Sub Rosa follows the Non-Permissive Environment (NPE) concept — compact, discreet, and reliable in situations where bulk and visibility are liabilities.

Its triangular cross-section blade is purpose-built for defensive penetration and structural strength. The geometry reinforces the tip while maintaining a slim profile that moves cleanly and predictably. The beveled edge can be sharpened easily with sandpaper, allowing field maintenance without specialty equipment.

Train As You Carry

Included with every Sub Rosa is a blue trainer built to mirror the live blade. Each trainer, also constructed out of the same G10 as a the knife, can fit in the same included sheath so your muscle memory remains consistent from training to fighting.

The Sub Rosa is constructed entirely from G10 laminate, making it non-metallic by nature. No steel or hidden inserts but no compromise in strength.
